Alexandre BALDUZZI
Author, composer, performer
Alex made his debut in Vieux-Nice with Bomb Jack, his band at the time.
He became known as Alexandre when he was revealed to the general public in 2002 through the television show “Star Academy” and its 2nd class, with which he went on a national tour of 96 dates. This class was particularly noted for its authentic and endearing contestants and for its two albums recorded at the château de Dammarie-lès-Lys — one a tribute to Michel Berger and the other “Star Academy fait sa boum” — both of which met with great success. This is how Alexandre had the opportunity to record two duets with Nolwenn Leroy (“Seras-tu là?”, “Le pull-over blanc”) and a verse on the very “80s” track “Paris Latino.”
Determined to continue his musical career on stage, he gave concerts with his band in France, in the overseas territories (DOM-TOM), and even in Europe.
In 2010, Alex released his first EP, self-titled (Alex Balduzzi), in which he combined Anglo-Saxon melodies with the sensitivity of the French language.
It was in fact while proving himself at the famous Parisian cabaret “Le Don Camilo” that he truly became immersed in the French song repertoire and came to grasp the grandeur of words and their importance in music. The set he performed there caught the attention of the metro musicians’ programmer, which led him to collaborate with the RATP (Paris transit authority) on numerous events, both in metro entrances and at festivals such as W9’s “Home” festival, Solidays in Paris, the Nice Jazz Festival, and Artrock in Saint-Brieuc.
In 2014, he released “Lonesome Cobaye,” a second EP: still intimate, more ethereal, and darker too, yet luminous in its contrasts. The featured track “Daddy” allowed him to return to television for a year with the FR3 program “Les chansons d’abord,” hosted by Natacha St Pier. He was still recognized by that same voice — both tender and deep — which allowed him to share the stage with talented artists.
The concerts kept coming, and whether alone on stage or surrounded by his fellow musicians, this dandy troubadour continued to celebrate a music that was communicative and unifying.
It was in this spirit that Alex met a new musician, Lionel Naudon, a multi-instrumentalist.
Their chemistry on stage was obvious. Alex and Lio then set their minds on producing an album together. Introspection, reading, writing, and new songs emerged — more poetic ones. This was the birth of Placide.
A first album is planned for December 2020.
